Attending a Nursing in Practice event can support your revalidation and professional development in a number of ways; the conference counts as a participatory learning method of CPD, can be used in one of your five reflective written accounts and offers a forum to learn about the latest developments in therapeutics and guidance.
Each year we are committed to providing conference programmes which reflect the latest clinical practice guidelines, help you improve your practice and develop new skills, respond to changes and advances in nursing and offer a forum for you to network with colleagues from across your region.
The NMC says ‘You must have undertaken 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to your scope of practice as a nurse, in the three-year period since your registration was last renewed or you joined the register’. Each reflective account must be recorded on the approved form and must refer to: an instance of your CPD and/or, a piece of practice-related feedback you have received and/or, an event or experience in your own professional practice and how this related to the Code.
Nursing in Practice events typically offer between four and five hours of dedicated learning time and, as they are conducted in a group setting with hundreds of other nurses, can count towards your participatory learning requirements. The agendas are designed to be relevant to nurses working in primary and community care and will cover a broad clinical and professional spectrum. Often, there are multiple concurrent sessions to choose from, allowing you to select the topics most relevant to your work. As supporting evidence for your CPD, after attending a Nursing in Practice conference we send you a downloadable certificate of attendance which you can file in your e-portfolio or print and keep in paper form. To help you keep track of different events, this will include the CPD method (conference), the date it was undertaken, the maximum number of hours of content, and a brief overview of topics covered. Where speakers allow, you will also be able to download presentations from the day so that you go back and reflect on key learning objectives.
